EDS often get asked to deal with Heritage and Conservation projects. This unusual property once formed part of The Heritage Centre and has now been converted to a high-quality home. EDS gained planning permission to convert what was the Silk Mill into one dwelling and to convert what was the former garages, now referred to as the Crown Yard Kitchen, into another dwelling.
If you have an unusual or bespoke project, we can help you.
This early 17th Century Barn makes up part of a Grade ll listed Farmhouse. EDS helped the owner to convert it into a bedroom and link it to the main house. The original square timber panelling, thatched roof and timber post trusses made this a challenging application as the heritage is of the barn is of significant architectural importance. Character projects like this require sympathetic approaches, and a close working relationship with the Conservation team.
EDS have been working with the owner of this Grade ll listed building in Derby City Centre. The exciting proposal that has gained planning permission and listed building consent, is for a new Indonesian Restaurant – opening soon. Our change of use expertise is strong, particularly in the hospitality sector, and with this project we are taking the client through to the launch of the restaurant with our catering consultancy service – something that makes us a unique company for any bar/restaurant/café proposals. Watch this space for further news on this great development.
We also await the approval of outline planning for 2 houses on this Derby plot. We work along side developers to ensure that housing schemes are supported, and viable.
A busy month with various residential projects going through the planning process.
We have developed schemes for a single storey rear extension to a family home in Darley Dale, a double storey rear extension to a flat in Leicester, as well as a detached double garage to a property on Duffield Road, Derby.
Our diary is always busy with these types of householder development projects, and the EDS team can quickly turn your ideas into reality as we guide you through the design and planning process.
Based on our solid reputation after nearing ten years in business our order book is generally solid with a varied type of residential work. At the beginning of 2022 we have started to compliment it with other commercial schemes.
We’ve recently completed a hotel in the peak district, a glamping site in wooded area at Alderwasley and a Community Hall in Woodhouse Eaves.
Alongside this we have heritage projects at Borrowash House and a spectacular old Grade 2 listed hall in Winthorpe were we have been commissioned to remodel the main building, design a swimming pool enclosure with spa area and a barn conversion. This property also contains a period orangery and vegetable garden and outdoor tennis courts. The site is being developed with a view to it being used as an Airbnb for large parties with onsite living quarters for the managers. We may even use our glamping expertise in part of its grounds.
